The Salt Lick at Driftwood, Texas

by Hipshot
(Somewhere near Austin, TX)

Although I have eaten there before, recently I had an chance to eat at The Salt Lick with some of my coworkers.

I knew it was good, so a recommendation from me was easy. Located 15 to 20 miles southwest of Austin, the trip was an easy one except that we happened to travel down MoPac right at rush hour.

Once settled in, my 10 colleagues and I ordered chopped beef sandwiches, plates that included sausage, ribs and brisket, as well as a little chicken and turkey.

Everyone had a good time and a good meal. Generally speaking everyone was pleased with their food (especially the blackberry cobbler and ice cream).

One person had a mix of chopped beef and sausage on a bun. He said it we very good, after taking a chance to give it a try. Another one said they had the best cole slaw they had ever eaten.

Not too many complaints. There was someone who thought the brisket was a little too lean (trimmed too much). Another one or two thought the BBQ sauce was a little oily (I agree).

All things considered, it was a very enjoyable meal. I have been before and will definitely go back.
